NEO | Pod
The NEO | POD is a portable whole body red light therapy device from NEO | Science. It is ideal for home use and traveling practitioners. This small yet powerful device can deliver treatments (25j/cm2 dose) in 30 minute increments.
DIMENSIONS:
How does NEO Pod compare to other similar looking devices on the market?
While the outer appearance looks similar, here are the key differences:
-
Controller and Adapter: Other devices require dual controllers and adapters to manage both sides, whereas we use a single controller. This not only simplifies the connection by reducing the number of wires but also allows our controller to adjust usage time, power intensity, and pulse mode.
-
Outer Material: Other devices utilize neoprene, while we opt for textile. We previously used neoprene, but based on customer feedback, we switched to textile due to the strong chemical odor associated with neoprene. Textile is a softer, more comfortable, and durable choice, without the unwanted chemical smell.
-
Inner Material: The innermost layer that touches the skin is made of Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). TPU offers a versatile range of benefits. It excels in durability, making it an ideal choice for demanding applications such as footwear and sports equipment. It exhibits resistance to a wide array of chemicals, which makes it easy to clean. TPU is biocompatible, making it a safe choice for medical applications and products that come into contact with the skin, like cosmetics and personal care items.
-
LED Configuration: NEO POD use three chips per LED, namely one 660nm chip and two 850nm chips, resulting in a total of 2680 LEDs, or 8040 LED chips. As each LED contains both 660nm and 850nm wavelengths, it provides a more even distribution of lighting and achieves a higher irradiance rate.
- The Pulse Mode: Pulsing light in red light therapy can enhance its effectiveness by preventing the over-saturation of tissues and allowing cells to better respond to the light, promoting more efficient healing and regeneration. This comes from lasers that are higher intensity and which can cause over heating of tissue and even burns (which won’t happen with NEO Pod as it’s much lower intensity than a laser). But certainly less heat. But also less dose as there is ca “15% off time” as part of the pulsation. The choice of specific frequencies, like 10Hz and 40Hz, is based on research indicating optimal benefits for different biological outcomes. For instance, a 10Hz frequency is often used to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality by influencing brain wave patterns, helping to induce a state of calm. On the other hand, 40Hz is linked to cognitive and memory benefits, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease research, suggesting it can enhance synaptic function and encourage neuroplasticity. These frequencies target specific cellular responses, making the therapy more effective for distinct purposes.
